Rear Axle Skewing
Traditional designs often cause the rear axle to shift rearward unevenly during suspension compression, particularly in winged sprint cars. This misalignment induces binding in the driveline, as a single U-joint in the front and a solid-mounted torque tube can’t adjust like a dual U-joint system.
Jacobs Ladder Binding
Binding occurs because the Jacobs Ladder moves linearly within its range of motion, while the birdcage rotates in an arc around the driveshaft. These conflicting motions inherently create binding at certain points.

Control of Rear Axle Skewing
The QRP Birdcage System introduces three unique mounting points for the rear arms on each birdcage. These points differ from side to side, allowing precise control of rear-end skewing. Additionally, the hook-up points adjust leverage on the suspension and the torque loading on the rear torsion tubes, offering unparalleled tuning options.
Floating Jacobs Ladder System
To address driveline binding, we’ve developed an adjustable floating Jacobs Ladder system featuring independent push-and-pull springs. This setup allows teams to fine-tune the grip of corner entries or the freeness required for the car to lay left, ensuring the ladder remains flexible without locking solid.
